	Division of Hospital Medicine

All hospitalists are board certified internists. They play an essential role in both the clinical and educational arenas. The Hospitalists act as the attending physicians for patients who are normally under the care of MFA physicians, but require admission to the hospital. Additionally, some of the voluntary physicians admit their patients to the hospitalists who can provide efficient on-site care while they continue to see patients in the office. Close communication between the hospitalists and the patient's private physician are critical components of the program and at the time of discharge, the hospitalists contact the private physician to update them on the clinical status of their patients.

The hospitalists are also very active in our teaching programs and round with the housestaff teams on a daily basis. This close contact between these attending physicians and the housestaff has led to an improved teaching experience for housestaff and students alike.
